The Singing Network, in collaboration with the International Federation for Choral Music‘s (IFCM) and as an integral component of the World Choral EXPO 2022, presents the second EXchange!.
3-7 September 2022 • Oeiras/Lisbon, Portugal
Join us for an intimate gathering of international scholars, performers, conductors, pedagogues, and composers representing 17 countries… to exchange, connect, create, share, and explore.
The Singing Network has selected 55 presentations which focus on foundations of choral music and diverse aspects of collective singing. Focus areas include: singing and song, moving, storytelling, conducting, dramatizing, mediating, teaching and learning, composing, socializing, imagining, communicating, expressing… and beyond!
The EXchange! is an integral component of the World Choral Expo. EXchange! sessions will take place in the mornings and early afternoons of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (5-7 September 2022) at Escola de Nossa Senhora do Cabo (R. Lusíadas 4, 2795-127 Linda-a-Velha, Portugal).

The WORLD CHORAL EXPO program includes WORKSHOPS, choral education PRESENTATIONS, conducting MASTERCLASSES, EXHIBITIONS, and lots of choral PERFORMANCES by invited choirs, professional choral ensembles, and participating choirs and vocal ensembles.
MAIN VENUES for the 2022 World Choral EXPO will be in the western parishes of Belém and Oeiras. The Opening Reception will be held at the Forte de São Julião da Barra. The daytime components (EXchange!, Conducting Masterclass, Colourful Voices, Workshops) will be held at the Escola de Música Nossa Senhora do Cabo. Afternoon concerts will be held at four concert venues (Igreja Paroquial Nossa Senhora do Cabo, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Igreja Matriz de Oeiras, and Auditório Municipal Ruy de Carvalho). The evening Gala concerts will all be held at Centro Cultural de Belém which is situated near Jerónimos Monastery, Tower of Belém, and the Monument to the Discoveries. The 2022 World Choral EXPO (WCE) will feature numerous concerts throughout Lisbon and its surrounding cities, presented by participating choirs and 10 selected leading choral ensembles from different continents. Here are the confirmed choirs selected to enrich your WCE 2022 experience: Cantemus Youth Choir, conductor Denis Ceausov (Moldova); Collective Singers, conductor Ponti Dikuua (Namibia); Maze, conductor Merel Martens (Netherlands); Mosaica Singers, conductor Nedy Muna (Jordan); Portland State Chamber Choir, conductor Ethan Sperry (USA); Shallaway Youth Choir, conductor Kellie Walsh (Canada). We are also thrilled to announce the two professional choirs which will be participating in WCE 2022: Kammerchor Stuttgart, conductor Frieder Bernius (Germany) and Ordinarius Vocal Group (Brazil).
